Sandhills Quail Habitat Foundation

About the Foundation

The Sandhills Quail Habitat Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) on June 6, 2023 with the purpose being to acquire property and to manage and protest such property to promote, enhance, and sustain its natural features and native flora and fauna of the Sandhills of North Carolina. This includes to preserve, support and conserve upland game bird and small game habitat.  It also serves to provide a venue for the training and testing of pointing breed dogs.

Fundraising Efforts

The Foundation is currently in the midst of a multi-year fundraising effort to purchase the existing 100 acre training grounds in Jackson Springs, NC from the Three Rivers Land Trust. The intention is for this to be a grass roots effort from not just the members of SPBC, but others in the greater NC upland bird hunting community. In addition to direct donations, the Foundation has also made arrangements to accept a number of tax avoidance donations including both in-kind share donations and also Qualified Charitable Donations (QCD) from an individual’s IRA. If anyone has questions about possible donations, please contact Scott Smith at 704-280-2909 (ssmith2@tranetechnologies.com) or Ed Jesson at 803-553-5230 (edward.jesson@gmail.com).
